With spring arriving soon, the
professionals at First Choice Rehab support your

fitness. This month, Dr. Bob Gorinski offers another
thought-provoking commentary on rehab and Dale Hilbolt,
PT, remarks on recent research on the cost of treating
back pain. Remember, all our past newsletters appear

No Brain, No Gain
When
not treating patients, Dr Bob Gorinski enjoys
penning articles on health related topics. This
one is one in a series of commentaries from Dr.
Gorinski.
by Robert Gorinski, D.P.T., C.S.C.S.
"No Pain, no gain" happens in my clinic almost
daily. It's spoken form the lips of the frail
elderly and hulking construction workers,
scholars and children. I nod my head with mild
approval to communicate appreciation of such a
willing spirit.

Physical Therapy Is an Effective Treatment of
Choice for Many Back Pain Patients
By Dale Hilbolt, PT
Recent evidence suggests that patients who
receive physical therapy for musculosketeletal
disorders, including back and neck pain, report
good outcomes at a lower cost than using drugs
or surgery, the American Physical Therapy
Association (APTA) reported this month.

DDD: Not always
a Dismal, Drastic Diagnosis
by Gary
Karkuff, PT
The
diagnosis of cervical degenerative disc disease
(DDD) is a normal finding, says Gary Karkuff,
PT, Partner and Clinic Director of the Hanover
Office of First Choice Rehab. "People can be
pain-free with DDD," he says. "It is a
diagnostic label based on MRI imaging and the
label itself can be disabling."

I first saw you, I couldn't move my arm. You
told me to expect to take 4 months. You also

first session I told my husband you were going
to get me through it and you did!
